The thought came simply because my wife walked by me yesterday and I added to my notes the following words: Treat them like you would treat your wife.
And it’s true. Here’s what I’ve noticed in the world of marketing. A business owner opens up shop, gathers customers by making a sale, does a fantastic job, sometimes even captures data and then wait for it….reaches out 1 year later or the next time there’s a sale.
That my friend is what we call “Booty Call.” It’s bad business and bad marketing.
Your customers should be communicated with daily. If not daily, then as often as you would your neighbor whom you love, or you best friend whom you cherish.
And when you do reach out to your customers, they should not be booty called because you need as sale. Your customers should be talked to as you would your wife.
No man has ever walked to his wife and said “Sex, now!”
No business owner should walk up to previous customers and simply say “Sex now!”
Gary Halbert who is one of my favorite copywriter once said “Advertising is seduction” and he is absolutely correct. You can if you want to say “Sex Now” but it’s better to have a conversation first, make her smile, seduce her before you say “sex now.”
Next time you reach to send an email to your customer list, remember the words above 🙂
